Hampton Posts Bond

A man accused in the hit and run of a child July 20 in Meridian has bonded out of jail.

Officials with the Lauderdale County Detention Facility say Darryl Hampton, Jr., posted bond Monday night.

Hampton turned himself into Meridian police Monday, a week after he allegedly hit a child with his car at 43rd Avenue and 24th Street and fled the scene.

The child remains at University Medical Center in Jackson in critical but stable condition.

I agree Billy. I mean DUH, if he ran after he hit this child do you really think he will show up for court? Just goes to show you that there is not much of a justice system if they let this guy have a low bond not knowing how the child will fair in all this.

Why was this man allowed to post bond. He should be behind bars ubtil we know the child is going to make it. If the child survives, it will be felony hit and run, but if he doesn't survive then it will be manslaughter. If he ran for days following the accident, do you think he will show up for court? We will see this man on AMW!

Believe me he had a 1,000 probaly on him. I'm sure with all the drugs he sell he will pay off some lawyer who don't care about nothing but the money to get off of this.

It was a disgrace to set his bond at $10,000 in the first place. He only had to pay $1,000 of it to get out. Even I could come up with $1,000 if I needed it bad enough. He didn't want to go to jail in the first place or he wouldn't have ran.
