Hundreds of school nurses in Mississippi will become the first in the U.S. to be trained by the National Association of School Nurses to fight obesity in children.
The state Department of Education has announced that the training will occur Tuesday and Wednesday in Jackson.
More than 400 nurses will participate in the School Nurse Childhood Obesity Education program, which provides strategies for promoting healthy weight.
Mississippi leads the nation in obesity rates among adults and children.
