FBI agents are conducting an investigation in Lauderdale County. They were at a house on Russell Topton Road and at a mobile home on Russell Mt. Gilead Road for hours Wednesday.

Several local agencies were at the scene assisting the FBI. including the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department and Mississippi Highway Patrol.

They appeared to be searching for a person or people. Law enforcement officers with high-powered rifles were seen up and down the roads.

Neighbors said they haven't been given any information. A man was in the backseat of a patrol car, but it's unknown if he was under arrest or what the charge could be against him.

Newscenter 11 contacted FBI headquarters in Jackson for a statement.

A spokesperson has confirmed that the FBI has an ongoing investigation but would not give any details of what it is.

I agree it is scary, but apparently the person or persons were not a danger to the neighborhood.I don't think people have anything to worry about. I agree with the Observer,"LIES ARE NASTY" and if you don't have the facts then things should not be said until it is proven. I stay very close to where this took place and it was scary but a very sad situation for the people involved.

they don`t tell people because you never know who will tell the criminals about what`s going on.

I agree with you, Robert. When we came home from work last night, they came out of the woods behind our house with their dog and their high powered rifles. Needless to say it was a little unsettling. They gave us a very sketchy description of someone they were looking for and told us if we saw anything to call 911. Still, we don't know if it's OK to go outside now or not. You'd better believe we're making sure all of the locks on all of our doors are secure! I suspect this is not nothing. But I'd still like to know if their suspect is just another neighbor or if he's dangerous. Do I need to be scared?

If it was really "Drug Related", the MS and County drug task forces would have been there. Lies are so nasty.

YOU KNOW THEY IN THE WRONG AREA BECAUSE THEY HAS TO HAVE HEAVY POWER RIFLE AND THEN THEY DRESSING UP IN CAMOUFLAGE AND PAINTING THEIR FACES GREEN AND BLACK STRIPES AND WEARING KEVLAR HELMENTS THEY IS FIGHTING AT THE WRONG WAR. AND I ALSO AGREE,IF YOU STAY CLOSE BY WHERE THEY DID THIS BUST SOMEONE SHOULD HAVE LET EVERYBODY KNOW SOMETHING,BECAUSE IF A INMATE EXCAPE THEY WILL INFORM YOU THEN,SO DON'T LET THEM GET YOU KILL IN THE PROCESS.

i feel that they should at least tell the people in the coummity so they dont cause a big uproar if it is nothing then tell the people nothing dont just leave us in the dark just saying that you never know what could happen
