The new chancellor of the University of Mississippi spoke to area business leaders Tuesday morning.
Dr. Dan Jones took the helm at ole miss in July. He said business support for education is critical, not only at the university level, but also for Pre-K through twelfth grade.
"The evidence is overwhelming that education level makes a difference, not only in individual lives but in communities and states," Jones said. "And if you look at Mississippi's challenges, most of our challenges are rooted in education or the lack of education. And it's a critical issue for our state."
Jones said if the business community supports public education, then programs are stronger and graduates are better prepared for the business world.
