Before the end of 2009, Mississippi's Make-A-Wish Foundation will have granted eighty wishes to children around the state.
But the foundation says it's in need of donations and volunteers. It holds fundraisers like "Walk for Wishes", but says it has granted 24 wishes already this year, with the money coming from reserve funds.
"Our biggest need right now is for donors, for sponsors for these children so we can grant these wishes," said Ricky McCraw, community development coordinator. "We're just like everyone else. The economy has had its effect. We've felt the impact of the economy. But these children are going to continue to come to us. You know, these illnesses are not going to let off these children so we're going to continue to have children come to us."
