Schools Report Incidents of Swine Flu

Precautions are being taken after cases of the swine flu have turned up in three east Mississippi school districts.

So far, at least one student in the Enterprise School District and another at Calvary Christian School have been confirmed as having had the virus.

Officials in the Lauderdale County School District say one student missed school last week, after the parent said that the child had the virus as well.

Now, at least one other student at West Lauderdale Middle School is being tested.

Despite these cases, district officials say there is no need to panic.

"Not at this point. In fact, they advised us not to close school down with this situation but to just separate the kids who are sick away from people who are well," said assistant superintendent Ed Mosley. "If everybody just takes precautions that the medical field and CDC have told us, we'll be O.K."

At this time, officials at all of the districts say the necessary precautions are being taken to prevent the spread of the virus.

Officials with the Mississippi Department of health say Lauderdale County has had a total of a dozen confirmed cases so far. Neshoba County has had a total of six. And Clarke County has had five to date.
