Ninth Grade Gets Old 'New Home'

Meridian's ninth grade students will start the school year at the former Kate Griffin Junior High building. A new facility on the campus of Meridian High School, originally slated to be ready for the start of school, is not. So the move there is delayed.

Still, the new administrator for the ninth grade, Victor Hubbard, said he has high expectations for teachers and students this year.

"And as we discussed in our professional development today, we want the teachers to be happy also. Because we understand that happy teachers make happy students. And happy students are happy about learning. We are going to reach out to our parents to build a strong partnership with our parents to let them know what is happening in our schools every day because it is important that all of us are held accountable," said Hubbard.

Students return to class Thursday, Aug. 27.
