Cheatham Expected to Come Home Soon

A former coach who was burned in an accident earlier this week is expected to be released from the hospital soon.

Former East Central Community College head football coach Steve Cheatham was injured while burning garbage at his home in Newton County.

Cheatham was airlifted to a burn center in Augusta, Ga., for treatment.

Family members say he's expected to be released in the next three or four days.

Cheatham recently retired at ECCC, because of a battle with cancer.

I am a staff member at Neshoba Central High School where Coach Cheatham served as head football coach. We are all in prayer for his speedy and full recovery. He is a very special individual that had a very positive influence on the students and staff at our school.
