Dixie Thunder Run Rides Through Meridian

The rain Saturday morning didn't prevent the men and women of the Dixie Thunder Run from making the annual motorcycle ride to Meridian.

It consists of two routes. Both end in Meridian. The southern route started in Biloxi. The northern route started in Tupelo. The ride started a few years ago when members of the Mississippi Army National Guard wanted to help fellow soldiers. Plenty of activities took place throughout the day at Chunky River Harley Davidson.

"The Dixie Thunder run people take the money. I think last year they raised close to $25,000 to help the families of military personnel that really need the help," said Meurice LeFevre.

LeFevre says he is happy his business was the meeting spot for all participants.

This was one of the most memorable rides that I had been on. The ride down the Natchez Trace, people going out to the road to wave, people stopping cars to wave, and the rain between Philadelphia to Meridian and then seeing the LARGE crowd at Chunky River. WOW... wet and happy. It can only get larger and better.
