For most people this weekend is an extended one. The arrival of Labor Day 2009 is here which for most, means three days off of work instead of just two.
Labor Day became a national holiday in 1894. Originally, the holiday was a celebration to recognize all of the contributions made by workers for our country. To this day, many Americans celebrate this occasion with friends and family. George Washington of Meridian is no exception.
"Oh, I'm looking forward to a barbeque and sitting down to drink something cold. Oh yes, we are going to celebrate with the family and then go party with some friends."
