The personnel director of a Mississippi company targeted in the nation's largest raid on undocumented workers faces a new federal indictment for allegedly hiring people he knew were illegal immigrants.

Jose Humberto Gonzalez was first indicted May 6 on conspiracy and employee fraud charges related to the raid on Howard Industries in Laurel on August 25, 2008. Nearly 600 suspected illegal immigrants were detained.

A new 12-count indictment also accuses Gonzalez of aggravated identity theft for hiring people he allegedly knew had stolen identities.

Several of Gonzalez's attorneys did not immediately respond to messages. The U.S. Attorney's office didn't return a call.
