In just a matter of weeks, sounds of construction will be replaced with country and rock bands at Rhythm and Brews in downtown Meridian.
"I'm looking forward to meeting some new faces over here and hoping to entertain some people," said bar owner, Bradley Wyatt.
Rhythm and Brews plans to fill the old building with local residents ready to hit the town and grab a drink at the bar while catching some live music.
And residents won't have to wait long. The city's newest venue is set to open in the next couple of weeks.
"Right now, we have our basic lay out. We will come in here and add all of our coolers and production for our staging," Wyatt said.
At this point, you can see the bar's design featuring a large stage and a bar that just keeps going and going and going.
"We would have hoped to be open by now, and the closer it gets the more excited we're getting," said Wyatt.
It has been large project with crews totally renovating the building all summer. Along the way the owners have found a few structural surprises that slowed the work, not to mention a mid-project fire back in June.
There are still some things to be decided. The neighboring building was basically leveled to create a parking deck. But while working, crews cracked the slab. At this point owners aren't sure what they will do.
"We are mainly concerned with getting open with the bar here but something will be done," Wyatt said.
