The first school board meeting of the 2009-2010 school year welcomed a new board member, Dr. Judith Miller. Not only did this meeting mark change in its members, but also expectations for the year.
The board said it's hoping to make the education of Meridian Public Schools a community issue.
"We are looking forward to changes in our academic progress," said superintendent Charlie Kent. "We are looking to share partnerships. We are looking for more parents to be involved in their children's schooling. And we want school to be a community piece."
Board members said they truly believe improvements will come with more parent participation.
