MPD Officer Faces Charge

A Meridian police officer has been suspended with pay, after being charged with domestic violence.

32-year-old Geoffrey Paton was charged over the weekend.

Police Chief Benny Dubose said the suspension is in place, pending the outcome of the court case.

Dubose said he anticipates a trial in municipal court in early October.

Loretta first thing the mayor has no control of this the Chief has call on this.. not the mayor.. this is one of many reasons trouble has sat here in the MPD for years... second thing domestic violence is on both sides.. woman can be just as brutal as a man can be and push the buttons to fire up a man to hit her.. both are at fault.. or can be... it took years before anyone could see a woman can be a killer just as easy as a man or a predator of children... but still today some see there is a excuse for this behavior... IE woman that called rape of 4 students and she lied the DA said need to understand. well those boys lives are destroyed she does counseling and public service.. as far as this case he should had known better and left long ago as a trained officer he saw it coming .. if she lied well depends on the DA here

You know, there was another white officer that was charged with DUI and his arrest was splashed across the front page of the paper. I believe he was found innocent but I don't remember seeing that part in the paper. Officer T Thompson's stuff wasn't ever mentioned. Why isn't someone screaming racism? The minorities are being exploited! Call the NAAWP, quick!

"disgusted again", the officer that forged the judges signature is T. (TWIN) Thompson, the one with the K-9 officer. its a shame isn't it, he also did other things that have gone unmentioned. that just doesn't excuse what this officer has done. I wish we would have got a police officer from inside the department for the new chief, but maybe, just maybe a new chief from the outside is what we need as a city to clean this department of dirty cops. My sister is still trying to get over what Paton Geoff did to her. The crazy thing is she might be pregnant with his child. I can only hope and pray she isn't.

Lets see, one officer charged with domestic violence, name placed in paper and suspended with pay. Another officer forged Judges name on warrant, suspended and allowed to return to work at reduced rank but unlimited overtime BUT his name not mentioned....hmmmm I wonder?

No man under any circumstances has a right to put his hand on a woman. I don't care what type of woman she is. There is a such thing as walk away! Police officers live by a different code when it comes to the law. They can arrest civilians for violating the law but go home and hit their wives and get away with it. Until you have been married to a police officer you dont know what its like and wouldn't understand.

Let me share my story about Officer Paton. He dated my daughter for 2 months recently, and we were absolutely shocked to find that he was married! He told us he was divorced and that his ex-wife had moved back to New York. I just had to write in after reading Steven's comment. This guy retaliated (after his wife heard he was cheating) by calling her employer which caused enough trouble that she was asked to resign (with a threat of firing her and putting Paton's false accusations in her personnel file...a whole new story!) Our daughter is absolutely devastated with what he has done to her. He evidently uses his police affiliation to do whatever he thinks he can get by with! This man is a SNAKE in policeman blues, and the MPD deserves better representation than what he offers. I sincerely hope that the City of Meridian will not consider reinstating him. It makes me sick to think that he is getting a paid suspension while my daughter is looking for a new job!

This is what I call "PROMOTING BAD BEHAVIOR" Why would Cheri Barry allow this guy to be paid for beating his wife?

I could write a book on this STUPID cop! He dated my friend for 2 months and lied about being married. My friend heard that he was still married so asked friends and family to check him out. When his WIFE found out about him cheating, he was furious. He called my friend's boss and demanded that she be fired. Her employer asked her to resign or they would fire her and put the cop's accusations in her personnel file...she reluctantly resigned to keep her record clean. She was devastated! He took advantage of his job by flexing his police muscles and tampered with someone's job and reputation...and he is the one who lied and cheated! This cop has serious anger issues, intolerable arrogance, and above all incredible STUPIDITY! I hope our city will consider this rogue cop a ticking time bomb and FIRE him!

although you are correct "Amazed...again" anyone can file charges on anyone. But, if an officer arrives on scene and see visible marks on either party he SHALL make the arrest. So I guess the question is who made the charges, his fellow officers because they saw marks, or his wife because there were no visible marks. Time will tell.
