A survey shows that colleges and universities in Alabama are being hit harder by the flu than schools in any other state, except Washington.
Given this statistic, officials at the University of West Alabama say they are prepared.
Since school started in mid-August, there have been eleven confirmed cases of flu on the campus. All were treated as cases of the swine flu.
University officials say a special committee has now developed a comprehensive plan on how to handle a possible swine flu outbreak on campus.
UWA officials say, once the swine flu vaccine is available in October, the university will provide it for to students, faculty and staff.
