Wildcat Mascot Costume Update

The Meridian Police Department reported Friday afternoon that the Meridian High School Wildcat mascot costume has been returned.

Investigators received a phone call from the high school that the costume was returned by a parent of a Meridian Public School student.

The MPD says it will investigate the return of the item, as well as continue investigating the theft of the vehicle in which the mascot outfit was being stored.

The vehicle, a tan over tan 2001 Chevy Tahoe with Mississippi registration tag number LBV724, was reported stolen from the Bonita Lakes Mall area Sept. 23.

Why was the student allowed to keep the costume in their vechicle in the first place? Should it have not been left at the school under lock and key? Sounds like there should some accountability taken at Meridian High. Does not the mascot fall under one of the teachers or sponsors, maybe the principal needs to start answering some questions, better start asking them.
