A former NFL player, living in Lauderdale County, has been arrested in a kidnapping and sexual battery case.
Marion police charged 36-year-old Matthew Dorsett over an alleged incident a couple of weeks ago. He turned himself in to authorities Monday.
Dorsett, who played defensive back for the Green Bay Packers in the mid-1990s, has been living in east Mississippi for several years. He's a native of New Orleans.
Marion Police Chief Ben Langston said he can't release some details, because of the nature of the charges. He said the incident happened Oct. 2 around 10:45 p.m. at a private residence in Marion, Miss.
Although Dorsett often works with children, and last school year worked for the Lauderdale County School District, Langston said the case does not involve an underage person.
'I do not know the details of where he has worked in the past or dealing with children or anything like that," said Langston. "We have not gotten into that yet at this time. We will be checking further into his background and contacting various people as we see need."
Bond for Dorsett was set at $10,000 on each charge. He has since bonded out of jail.
Langston said he is working to have this case ready to be presented to a grand jury in November.
