MPD: Tips Lead to Robbery Charge

Meridian police say media coverage led to authorities to identify and then charge a robbery suspect.

Detectives say Roylando S. McAllister, 28, of Meridian is charged in a Sept. 11 incident that happened in the 1600 block of 15th Street.

Officials say McAllister turned himself in voluntarily Wednesday, accompanied by his attorney. After an initial appearance, McAllister's bond was set at $10,000.

Capt. James Sharpe said police received calls to Crimestoppers after the suspects' images were broadcast. He says the crime was committed by two men, so one suspect is still at large.

Anyone who has information may contact the Meridian Police Department Criminal Investigation Division at 601-485-1859, The Meridian Police Department Front Desk at 601-485-1893 or Crimestoppers at 601-485-1860.

Again, I say it's a sad day when African American males can only receive attention for doing negative things. Where are our pastors and community leaders? We need to save our young black males.

Meridian police is a lie, Roylando recognized and turned himself over to police. As far as WTOK your reporting leaves a lot to be desired. Why plaster his picture repeatly what purpose did it serve other than Substantiate Meridian's judicial system sucks. Innocent until proven guilty. Not likely

Nat Rat, if you do the time, then you get the time. And prison ain't the beach, as you probably already know. And yes, I hope his friend gets caught and I hope they both do the maximum time in the pokey. And if you do something and join them, then there will be 3 amigos.
