Several Mississippi lawmakers say they've heard a special session is possible in the next couple of weeks, but Gov. Haley Barbour has not made an announcement.
Barbour usually keeps his special session plans a secret until he is ready to call lawmakers to the Capitol.
"The governor has not called a special session," his spokesman, Buddy Bynum, told The Associated Press this week.
Speculation has been that Barbour, who recently traveled to Asia, would call a special session on incentives for a start-up company run by a Chinese businessman who hopes to build at a car plant in Tunica County.
GreenTech Automotive Inc. wants to raise money from foreign investors to open a $2 billion plant on 1,500 acres and eventually produce 250,000 fuel-efficient cars a year.
