Summer arts education for young people is being funded by Plum Creek Foundation.
The charitable arm of Plum Creek Timberland Thursday granted $4,000 to be used for local programs.
It will be administered by the Community Foundation of East Mississippi.
"Having young people exposed to the arts at an early stage is an important aspect of their education," said Ronnie Walton, president of the Community Foundation board of directors. "Statistics show that exposure to the arts helps kids in all the important academic areas of their education."
Plum Creek is headquartered in Seattle, Wash. You may remember it made a $4,000 donation last year to WTOK news director John Johnson's Run for Cancer.
