Students at Clarkdale got down and dirty, for the environment, Thursday.
First grade students helped plant a crepe myrtle tree donated by Wal-Mart. It's part of the company's 'go green' effort.
Teacher, Cathy Hamburg, said students helped pack in the dirt.
"It's doing something for our environment. It's giving us a tree. Plus, you know, it's giving them a chance to see how you do plant a tree and kind of let them be involved in it," said Hamburg.
The tree was placed beside the elementary's PE building.
