Fire Kills Clarke County Man Over Weekend

A Clarke County man died Friday in a mobile home fire at the Valley Road Mobile Home Park in Lauderdale County.

According to Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun, Larry Chapman, 46, died in the blaze. He was the only person in the house at the time of the fire.

Calhoun says the fire is still under investigation. The body has been sent to Jackson for an autopsy. It took place Friday night at 10:50 p.m.

    This is sad. A man lost his life and all you can do is put down a person trying to show some compassion. Alexis, you called 911, that is better than not doing anything. How old are you by the way?

    its so sad i known larry all my life so sadly too his mom and his family and his kids lets pray for this family

    You should not put people down like that. This person was upset over this fire and you should show compassion.

    It is so sad to lose a loved one I,m so sorry to what happen I stay next to Mobile home that Burned .I just want to let the family know that I'm so,so,so very sorry. I wished their was someyhing I could've done.The first thing I did was called 911 and told their a Mobile home on fire and to hurry I paniced and I didn't know what to do.I just cried.

    I Called the police as soon as possible I'm very sorry for what happened to Mr Larry.I feel like I could of done something.My sister Stay right next to the trailor that Mr.Larry died in.I Just wanted to say how very sorry I am I wish there was something I could of done I'm going to regret that.I thought no one was in their but was and I think we could,ve saved him nomatter what any one say.PS Thanks For hereing me out.ALEXIS LOCKHART
