Meridian police responded to the scene of an apparent homicide Friday around 11 a.m. A body was found in a vehicle in the 2300 block of 25th Avenue.

The victim was identified as 29-year-old Jerome Hearn of Meridian.

"We were initially called to the scene in reference to shots fired in the area," said Capt. James Sharpe, chief of criminal investigations for the Meridian Police Department. "Once the patrol officers got there, they had several complaints, they were canvassing the area when they came upon a parked car at that vacant residence."

Inside the car, they found one black male victim dead, who had suffered apparent gunshot wounds.

"We feel that at least one other person knows what happened and we think there might be possible witnesses, even people who didn't realize what they were seeing when they passed by," Sharpe said.

"That person had a family, a life, and we are going to do what we can to make sure the person or people responsible are put behind bars," said Sharpe.

An autopsy by the Mississippi State Crime Lab will be scheduled to determine the official cause of Hearn's death.

Investigators ask anyone with information about this incident to contact the Meridian Police Department at 601-485-1893, the Criminal Investigation Division at 601-485-1859, or Crimestoppers at 601-485-1860.

Ed: Like I had said before I am done with this topic. You can save all of this for another post because I am not going to bother reading it. It is probably just the same stuff you have been saying over and over again. Have a good day.

Brittney from ur comments you seem slow....I would hate to have a one on one conversation with you I'm sure your not that bright..But anyway no one is saying Jerome was perfect but hello didn't the man have a reputation for also carrying a pistol around and from my understanding he would've got them if they didn't get him. Now Brittney and everybody else Jerome could be sweet and he had the potential to do great things being he come from a good family but he chosed a different path. I sure everyone benefited from the drug money including moma and sisters and probaly you Britteny. But this man didn't jus started selling drugs he been in the drug game for a while. What happen to Jerome isn't unusual it's jus so shocking we in this small town but in the big cities it happen all the time. So if you going to sell drugs you better think about the consequences first.....

Ed: I have never blamed myself for the mess Jerome got in. I know he was the reason for his own demise. With that being said I am through with this post I have said I all I needed to say. RIP Jerome Hearn Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. (Psalm 23:4)

Brittany i have time always to say something.. but then I know time management ... and like most that use the word of God dont like it when you run into another that knows abit more... think it is funny on the reactions when i step on toes.. but its sad that I have to.. or do so... But I have seen alot inmy life and my times have seen where it is started and all find excuses to trun a blind eye to it rather then kicking the trash out ... and when hell breaks and death or injury is the end of it... it is because of their actions that caused the outcome. but we turn and say we should have done more... and feel for that one .. blaming yourselves for the mess they made... they made the mess they have to get out of it...

in response to 4 real 2 the scripture you quoted ur right that was a robber on the stake that was dieing next to Jesus when he asked him to remeber him in paradise. Jesus assure him that he would. But read the context that criminal starts to listen and watching Jesus and he starts to believe in the son of God at a time when everybody else was against him. Now you telling me Jerome did that right before his death. I doubt Jesus wasn't no where in that drug deal. Now you go back and ask ur pastor to teach u better because you got it twisted...

well Brittany think you need to read the Torah, Leviticus, and new testament laws again .. we are the salt of the earth and we stand in judgment.... the bible never said not to judge .. but said not to judge by your own standards.... one reason I dont go to churches anymore.. they dont teach all the doctorates as they should...
