Remains were discovered early Thursday by hunters, deep in the woods off Sally Gray Road in Wayne County, just south of Shubuta.
Officials with the Wayne County Sheriff's Department say the remains were badly decayed, and at this point, they don't even know whether they are a male or female, or what the cause of death was.
"We had some hunters early this morning find some human remains," said "We were called in and confirmed they were human remains. Called the coroner's office in and also called MBI in. "
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation has been called in to help solve the case.
