ECCC Student Dies in Wreck

An East Central Community College student was killed late Thursday afternoon in a one-vehicle car accident.

Newton County Sheriff Jackie Knight says the accident happened around 4 p.m. on Decatur-Conehatta Road.

Sophomore Whitley Fisher of Lake, a graduate of Newton County High School, was remembered by classmates and friends at a gathering in Vickers Fine Arts Center auditorium Friday morning.

Fisher was a member of the concert choir at ECCC, which will perform at Fisher’s funeral. It's scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at Forest Baptist Church. Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Wolf Funeral Home in Morton.

Counselors from Weems Community Mental Health Center were also available Friday to meet with students coping with Fisher’s sudden death.

    im really sorry for wat happened to whitley i use to go to school with her i didnt really kno her well but she was a sweet girl..GOD BLESS HER AND HER FAMILY

    The NCHS Class of 2008 lost a wonderful person and an even greater friend!! Prayers go out to all of her friends and family.. We will never forget you Whitley!!

    Whitley was such a sweet and intelligent girl that will be greatly missed. My heart goes out to Jimmy and Faye and the rest of the family. I love ya'll dearly.

    This was a truley tragic accident and the family definately needs your prayers to get through this trying time. She will greatly be missed but heaven has one of its rare angels back.
