Kids across the world will have a merrier Christmas this year, thanks in part to people from this area.
Over the last couple of weeks, churches and individuals have been collecting shoe boxes full of toys to distribute worldwide as part of Operation Christmas Child. It's a ministry of Samaritan's Purse, run by Franklin Graham, the son of evangelist Dr. Billy Graham.
Northcrest Baptist Church in Meridian is the regional drop-off site for Operation Christmas Child.
"This has been going on sense 1993, something Franklin Graham started. It's touched over 70 million children all over the world, some that have never been given a gift before. "
Individuals may drop off filled shoe boxes at the church during business hours this week.
