A possible scam attempt turned into a robbery in Lauderdale County Friday. Investigators are trying to gather more information to make arrests.
Officials with the sheriff's department say it happened at a home on Fish Lodge Road. They say the victim had weapons and money stolen from him.
The male victim told authorities he believes one of the men who robbed him had been to his house Thursday to discuss doing house work for him.
That turned out to be a dangerous meeting because that victim was forced to the ground in his home and robbed of cash and guns by two men. No weapons were used during the incident.
One of the two suspects had been at the gentleman's house yesterday," said Calhoun. "It appears the gentleman had been seeking to have someone come and clean his house and this individual had responded, with some others, to the residence to discuss this with our victim of this morning."
One of the two suspects being sought is 22-year-old Brandon Johnson of 917 42nd Avenue. Authorities say they are working on identifying a second suspect.
Calhoun says one way to protect yourself when you have visitors is to always let a neighbor or family member know when people will be stopping by. Better yet, have someone at the house with you to deter the possibility of a crime to taking place.
Investigators are following several leads in this case. If you have any information, you may report it through Crimestoppers at 601-485-1860.
