A tip from a 911 caller Wednesday night led authorities with the East Mississippi Drug Task Force to an active meth lab.
It was found in a residence in the 1000 block of Frederickson Road in the northern part of Lauderdale County.
Two suspects were taken into custody. According to Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun, one of the suspects allegedly fled the scene, but was later apprehended by authorities.
No charges have been filed in the case. Calhoun says the investigation is in the early stages. Several young children were discovered at the scene. For this reason, the Department of Human Services was contacted.
Officials from the task force, the sheriff's department and several volunteer fire departments will spend much of the night working with a professional cleaning crew out of Jackson that is trained to clean such scenes. Meth labs are extremely dangerous.
