75th Semi-Annual Ralph Morgan Rodeo this Weekend

Lauderdale, Miss. The stands at Ralph Morgan Arena may be empty now, but come Friday and Saturday nights, they will be packed with crowds that continue to come back to the semi-annual Ralph Morgan Rodeo, now in its 75th edition.

Rodeo organizer Linda Clayton was hard at work Thursday morning putting up signs. She says crowd favorites, like calf roping, steer wrestling, and the women's barrel races will, of course, be there. But one thing will be front and center.

"This year, we're going to be showcasing Johnny Morgan's bulls that he's been raising here in our hometown of Lauderdale with his bull riding stock that we're real excited about having showcased this weekend."

Rodeo Announcer Mike Mathis has been the announcer at every Ralph Morgan Rodeo for over 20 years, and he says he keeps coming back because it is genuine entertainment, and a place where the whole family can go together.

"Everybody has a little bit of cowboy in you, so this is a great time to come. Bring the entire family, do something together to literally be entertained. Simply have a good time and enjoy something that's a part of everything we do."

Events begin each night at 7:30 with free parking at the arena. With this being the 75th rodeo, the Morgans are planning to celebrate, but are keeping details under wraps.

"It's just lots of fun things to do, and there will be a few other things that are new this year that you'll just have to wait and see what's going on. It'll be a surprise, but we're looking for y'all to come out."

Tickets for adults are $10, while children are $6.
