In the holiday spirit, Meridian's Temple Theater showed its first film of the Christmas season.

The Sound of Music played twice. First it played at 1:30 p.m and then again at 7:15p.m. The Polar Express was also shown at 4 this afternoon. Santa was there an hour before The Polar Express for kids to visit with. Roger Smith, the owner of the Temple Theater said he does this for the families.

"Well I'm trying to get the family to come out to the movie where it's a clean film. It's not a lot of cussing and violence. i'm trying to make them good, wholesome films of the past. That's what the people have expressed to me that they wanted to see, so that's what we're trying to do," explained Smith.

The children also shared hot chocolate and cookies with santa.
