After months of hard work, members of the Christian Fellowship Church in Lisman, Alabama are happy to say their church is officially up and running. Pastor Robert L. Webb says the church is clear on what it hopes to give back to the community.
"We want everybody to know throughout the entire area that this church is all about mission. This church is going to give us a better opportunity to do mission work," said Pastor Robert L. Webb.
Getting to the opening day for the church was not simple. Initially, those trying to start and build the church could not get the land they needed. Pastor Webb says it was from the help of others that made the church possible.
"He blessed us with a person from Sandusky Ohio to work with us to get this property and after receiving it we were able to go on and get the foundation done," explained Webb. " We were able to obtain a loan from First Aid Bank down in Waynesboro, Mississippi. Commons for christ they came and they helped us. As a matter of fact they saved us more than a half a million dollars."
Members of Christian Fellowship Church recognize their long journey. They say they are pleased with the progress they've made over time.
"We've come a long, long way. We started out with eight members and the eight founding members and Pastor Webb as our Pastor and we just can't believe that we've come this far in two years," exclaimed Virgia McNiar.
Members of the church say they hope more people will join them. They say they would like for the community to be a part of their church.
"We have an open door church. We want to go out into the community, starting with the community first, starting with home first and to bring those who are not apart or affiliated with a christ, a church that believes in our lord and savior Jesus Christ, we want to bring them into our church, into the fold of christ," said McNair.
Members of the church say they want to welcome everyone. They say it is everyone's church.
