A Feb. 16 trial date has been set for five teenagers in the June slaying in Meridian of a homeless man.

The suspects were arraigned this past week and each entered not guilty pleas to charges of capital murder in the slaying of David A. Caraway.

Charged in the slaying were 17-year-old Antshawn Davis, 19-year-old Marcus Anderson, 19-year-old D'Anthony Davis, 18-year-old Antonio Larickus Chapman and 16-year-old Eric Mosley.

Authorities say Caraway's body was found in an alley by a passerby. An autopsy showed Caraway died from blunt force trauma to his internal organs.

I work with juvenile offenders, but I have never worked with juvenile murderers. I agree with 'mother' that these are somebody children. You have to be careful about what you say and how you treat God's children. At their age, these children know right from wrong, but that doesn't mean that they are going to always make the best decisions (which doesn't excuse what they have done). They were wrong and they should be punished. God said, "thou shalt not kill". If you believe in that, then you can't possibly believe these boys should be sentenced to death. Life is prison, yes, but death in my opinion is not an option. For these boys to commit an awful crime of this nature shows that there are some underlying issues here. I don't know what, but I sense they are there and not hiding very well. We should also remember that just because this happened doesn't mean these boys' parents weren't doing the best they can do. The devil comes at us from all angles. He sometimes uses our children.

To "mother" those boys knew excatly what they were doing when they beat that poor man to death! Your right there is a God and i seem to remember something about though shalt not kill! I do have God in my life and i hope that they suffer the way that poor man did while they were beating him. I seriously doubt they will walk away free! If these boys had any real raising they wouldn't be beating people to death in the streets!

In response to Mother: Those "childrens" are murderers. If they were my sons they wouldn't be beating homeless people to death. Their fathers probably didn't spend the time to teach them right from wrong when they were growing up. That is the problem. The question to ask is what if Mr. Caraway had been a family member, what would you want done then.

Oh and that is soooo comforting that it will not bring the deceased back. NOT! You have to punish the guilty. God says thou shalt not kill. What about that! God would not want them in his kingdom.

You know what "MOTHER", Im sick of people like you ALWAYS saying things like "these are somebody children, blah blah blah". Yea, these are someone kids, I think we all know and realize this. However, these KIDS are acting stupidly and comitting violent CRIMES that should NOT be tolerated. If these KIDS have the GAULS to do this crap then these KIDS along with ANYONE ELSE needs to be punished to the fullest. Its time to stop trying to make excuses of the fact that they are KIDS....Heck, if these KIDS were properly trained by you "MOTHERS" and "FATHERS" then MAYBE....just MAYBE, we would NOT be concerned with these devilish deeds

I cannot judge these children, and I am not saying that they are or are guilty. People with these negative comments should be careful what they say about these children. No matter what type punishment these children receive, it will not bring the deceased man back to life. These young men are someboby childrens, brothers, etc. If you have nothing postive to say, be quite and pray for them, their families, and Mr. Caraway family. Three of these young boys are brothers, how would you feel if three of your children were behind bars and you felt as though the world was craving on you. You negative minded people need God in your life. Don't be amazed that God let these teenagers walk away free on Feb.16, 2010. There is a God.
