A special art gala was held at the Meridian Museum of Art. It's a festive party for the museum's patrons and supporters from over the lasty forty years. The gala had about sixty auction pieces on display. Kate Cherry, the director of the Meridian Museum of Art, says the event helps with other exhibitions throughout the year.
"This is one of our events our fundraisers to help us with our exhibitions and our art education programs. We have outreach programs and we also teach classes in the summer for the children. We have about eight to twelve exhibits a year. It helps to pay for those. It keeps the operating cost and everything else going for the museum,l" says Cherry.
Members of the museum were also able to bring in two pieces of art for the showing.
