WTOK news director John Johnson completed his third Rocket City Marathon this weekend in Huntsville, Ala., to benefit the Anderson Cancer Patient Benevolence Fund.
This year, WTOK sports anchor Nick Adam also ran the race, his first marathon.
"This is the third one and this was a struggle," said John. "I don't know why, but we finished. And that's always the goal, to get in and do 26.2 (miles) and do it in good time if you can. The best thing that you can do is finish. But we do it for the Anderson Cancer Center and for those who need money for help."
"It was just a personal challenge that I undertook. John's been doing this for three years and I felt like this was a really good challenge for me," said Nick.
"He's kind of guided me through the process of training. A few others at the station ran as well. And it's a lot of fun. "
Donations may still be made to the Cancer Patient Benevolence Fund. The money goes for expenses that patients have that are not covered by insurance. Click on the banner at the top of the home page to make on online donation.
