Wow, most of you who posted sound very illiterate. I do agree with the last post. Seems that MS gives less in food stamps per person than most states, they are very stingy.

oh brother... one thing about the system is isnt a tool to help you up but to beat you down.. fact every $ you earn you loose about three.. second you get a job.. then they close their doors.. you cant go back on the system... you're SOL .. three those that need will really never get.. my fiancee has aggressive cancer due to treatment cant work has applied for SSD first time in 20 yrs they told her well we said your treatment shouldnt keep you from working.. if it was so bad they would have done a mastectomy if the treatment is so hard then dont take it... so unless you really been there shut up.. as far as those that abuse the system .. abuse is on both sides those that get bonuses to keep it low and those that cheat the system...

I agree with self sufficient person but what if firmer rules are never put into place whit if these "I deserve a handout" types keep getting handouts? What happens when the minority that leaches off the system becomes the majority? I fear unless there is some action to be taken that we will slowly become a communist state! If anyone know how we can effectivly change the rules please let me know they never tought me this stuff in school. West Lauderdale never tought me anything practical past my times tables.

To Whatever- sounds like you are a bit sensitive on this subject... As a taxpaying person that witnesses the abuse of govt subsidies such as food stamps, I have to agree that we could better help those in actual need if the lazy folks would stop sucking the system dry. "Give me a Break" is right- it is a slap in the face to watch people continue to have children they have no intention of supporting monitarily while our taxes support those children! But, why would someone want to go to work when they can just sit back and have more kids to increase their monthly checks? Once our state govt wakes up and starts actually putting some firmer rules in place, we'll see that there is more than enough to go around for those in actual need. Watch out all you lazy, "i deserve a handout" type people (you know who you are)- the time will come when you can't fool the system anymore!

Its becasue all of those that were on foodstamps in 2001 now have 4 more kids and they are now recieving welfare! I am sick of allowing these people to have one kid after another. If they had to feed and clothe them on their own they would stop having them. Heck, we the taxpayers are the best paying employers around. I can't tell you how many women I see each day with 5 to 8 kids under the age of 10 who do NOT work. The money is too good to get out and actually get a real JOB!

this is to Hmmm, instead of complaining about people whom beat the system on foodstamps why don't you tell your story to some-one who can help. people like you are always complaining but never doing, if you are so concerned to why they get them and you dont then do something.

Well, I know that due to lack of jobs that there are more people asking for help, but if we can get those off that really do not need it then we would be ok. I wonder what the income limit is for food stamps??? I know I sure would like some help, but probably will not get it because I am honest when it comes to that, not like some that say, oh no one lives with me and my 5 kids and I have no idea who the fathers are, when the whole time he is right there. Go figure
