Officials with Meridian Public School District confirmed Tuesday that a problem with its Alertnow system resulted in erroneous messages being sent to parents that their children were absent from school Monday.
Alertnow is supposed to notify parents of actual student absences. But the district says 580 calls were made Monday night.
Following the glitch, the district says it sent a follow up message that stated the system had some issues. It advised parents to check with their child's school directly if they had questions about his or her attendance.
MPSD says Alertnow will not call again until it is determined what caused the problems and the issue has been corrected.
