A group of people that a local hospital couldn't get by without were honored Wednesday.
A luncheon was held for the Anderson Auxiliary, a group of men and women who volunteer at Anderson Hospital in Meridian.
The volunteers log hundreds of hours of volunteer time during the course of the year, helping with things like answering phones, giving directions and helping the families of patients.
"I think it's a way to show our volunteers that they are appreciated," said Laura Jordan of the Anderson Auxiliary.
The long-time director of the auxiliary, Rachel Keller, is retiring this year and was also honored at the luncheon.
