Meridian Community Living Center Wednesday hosted a Christmas party for its residents.
It came complete with a visit from Santa Claus, and included music and food. Santa passed out gifts to residents.
"This is the home that these residents live in, and it's the only home that they've got for now until the ones that can go home can go home," said activities director Shannon Crago. "And we try to make it as homey as we can for them. The holidays hit close to home and they bring emotions to us. And we've got some that don't know what's going on but we do let them know that we are here for them for the holidays."
In addition to visiting often, experts say gifts that are great for people living in nursing facilities are framed photos of family members, slippers, and if they're able, taking them on an outing to look at Christmas lights and decorations.
