From flashy baubles to jazzy phones, shoppers were in the buying spirit at Bonita Lakes Mall.
"I have a 6:00 deadline and I'm going to make it," said Prescilla Rice Jones.
Jones was out on this Christmas Eve shopping for her father. She had a goal in mind and wasted no time in heading to the stores on her list.
"We decided not to even by him clothes, but instead a lot of gadgets and snacks," Jones said.
Overall many retailers say it has been a good week and a busy Christmas eve just capped off what they hope will be a shopping season that will pull them out of an economic low.
Merchant Zachary Larence, who sells T-shirts said Wednesday he saw constant traffic.
"Considering how much business I did yesterday, today has been a pretty average day," Larence said.
But it wasn't all business. Some of the youngest holiday shoppers took time to let loose and enjoy some of the not so serious aspects of holiday shopping at the mall.
"Every time we passed by (the play area), he kept asking, 'Mama, can I please please get on it?' And I finally gave in," said Coretta Barnett.
But Barnett says this is what it's all about. She tries not to get to caught up in the hustle and bustle and still takes time to have fun with the family.
"We've been here 3 hours because we snuck to the movies and now we are going down there because he needs new shoes. We are trying to catch the sales," Barnett said.
And there will be even more sales when stores open back up Saturday.
