Ole Miss Considers Charging Fees for Tailgating Spots

University of Mississippi officials are considering whether to start charging fees next year for people or groups to reserve spots on campus for football tailgating parties.

Andy Mullins, executive assistant to the chancellor, says that under a current policy, the Grove is supposed to open at 6 p.m. Fridays so people can start setting up. But he says some have been arriving as early as 7 a.m. Fridays, and that's interrupting the academic day.

Mullins told the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal that there have been arguments over spaces, and companies that set up tents have been aggressive.

Mullins says the university's Gameday Committee will study the proposal and decide whether to recommend it to the Executive Council.

C: Obviously you've given up on Ole Miss since you are a "former" avid fan, but before you start completely bashing it, get your facts straight. Dixie can be played and still IS. It's "from dixie with love" which was removed from play b/c a bunch of stupid drunk students started saying "the south will rise again" at the end of it a few years ago. When they wouldn't stop, they stopped playing the song. There's a big difference between being PC to appease everyone and choosing what you do and DON'T want the university to stand for.

Charge a fee--weed out some of the "undesirables"(the rule breakers)---also why is The University of Mississippi not allowed to have a mascot, what is wrong with The Colonel, why can't the fight song be played by the band (Dixie)---WHY?????---I suspose we could just turn the whole thing over to the "politically correct group" and let it be a branch of Jackson State---and erase OLE MISS totally out of history---just an observer that used to be an avid fan
