Come one, come all! That is, shoppers, of course. Bonita Lakes Mall in Meridian was packed with the young-at-heart and adults all searching for bargains. Sharon Busler and Janine Lee both hunted down the best sales they could find.
"We're looking at all of the sales, which there is a lot of them, and we're spending some of our Christmas money," says Sharon Busler.
"To take advantage of the after Christmas sales, which are really good," says Janine Lee.
This year one of the popular gifts among some of the shoppers we talked to was actually just money. They say this suits their families because it allows them to pick out exactly what it is that they want or need. Then they don't have to worry about the returns.
"We got money for Christmas. We like to get in the mall after holidays. It's fun seeing everybody. It's something we usually do the day after Christmas," exclaims Busler.
It wasn't just money that seemed to be stuffed in people's stockings. Gift cards were another big hit among some shoppers at the mall. They got out to do the spending. Janine Lee and her daughter Londone had the same purpose as Bethany Peters: spend those gift cards now.
"Basically, just taking advantage of our gift cards and spending time with family. Catching all of the good deals and making use of our Christmas money that we got," says Bethany Peters.
"We do. We're using our gift cards today that we're given to us as gifts and we enjoy that. And it's a tradition for us. We do it pretty much every year," agrees Lee and her daughter Londone.
So if spending gift cards is a new event, here's to new traditions.
