Keeping Drinking and Driving Separate

Lauderdale County's Mothers Against Drunk Driving wants to make sure everyone has a good and safe new year.

Pam Vance is a member of the Lauderdale County chapter of MADD. She says people often have to face others trying to drive after drinking. If that's the case, she says you can save their lives by preventing them from doing so.

"If that person is trying to take their keys, and you know that they have had more than a beer, then go ahead and call the authorities. You may ultimately be saving their life. And it would be very hard to face somebody or face that family saying, 'I let him get behind that wheel', knowing that he had already had a couple of beers or just a beer or one drink or one bottle of wine," stressed Vance.

Vance said she hopes everyone starts the new year off right and avoids the combination of drinking and driving.
