Several railroad cars filled with coal derailed on Mississippi Highway 29 north of New Augusta. No injuries were reported.
The incident occurred between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Mississippi Department of Transportation, on the Illinois Central rail line just north of U.S. Highway 98.
MDOT officials say no tanker cars were involved and no evacuations were ordered.
Officials are currently working to clear the scene. The railway crossing at Mississippi Highway 29 has been closed until the cleanup is completed.
