A Meridian man has been charged by the Mississippi attorney general's office for possession of child pornography.
According a news release, the arrest of 54-year-old Roy Ellis happened Tuesday afternoon by investigators with the Attorney General's Office Cyber Crime Unit, with help from the Clarke County Sheriff's Office, as part of Mississippi's Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.
Ellis is charged with three counts of possession of child porn. Officials say he was arrested without incident at his residence and was booked into the Clarke County jail. No court appearances were immediately scheduled.
The penalty for possession of child porn is five to 40 years per count in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections. If convicted, Ellis could be sentenced to up to 120 years behind bars.
