Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour is set to deliver his State of the State address at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Capitol. The speech will be carried live on Mississippi Public Broadcasting.
Governors use the State of the State to lay out a legislative agenda, but Barbour says he already revealed most of his big proposals when he released his budget late last year.
The Republican is calling on legislators to be cautious with public money because tax collections have fallen short of expectations the past 16 months. He's also asking them to consolidate some school districts and universities.
