Mississippi Sen. Roger Wicker was part of a congressional delegation that met with U.S. military officials and leaders of Afghanistan and Pakistan.
According to a new release from Wicker's office, lawmakers spent Sunday at several remote U.S. and allied forward operating bases in Afghanistan, where they met with American and British military commanders.
The delegation also met with Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai and Pakistan's Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani.
Wicker is a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee and the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
Lawmakers will have a news conference Tuesday morning at the U.S. Capitol to discuss their trip.
