School children are performing this week for other kids. The annual Meridian Little Theatre Youth Production is "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory".
It's being presented four times a day all this week at MLT. One hundred thirty children won parts based on their auditions.
"I'm sure a lot people will remember Gene Wilder's production on TV, and then Johnny Depp, of course. But our play is a little different," said Linda Bruister of the MLT Youth Production Committee. "We have a lot of different scenes. Gives all the children an opportunity to get on stage and sing and dance and act. And it's colorful. The sets are fabulous."
There will be performances at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday for the general public. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for children. Call the box office at 601-482-6371 to reserve your seats.
