State economist Phil Pepper says Mississippi has lost 60,000 non-farm jobs since December 2007. He said the job loss trend mirrors the nation.

Lawmakers also were told not to expect significant revenue growth.

Revenue collections are expected to be about $347 million below original estimates for the current budget year.

The fiscal briefing came Thursday at the Capitol, where lawmakers are considering a state spending plan for the budget year that begins July 1.
