One local church is trying to help the people of our community become more knowledgeable about their health.
Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Meridian hosted the 'Health and Community Awareness Fair' Saturday, January 16th. It is the first of it's kind. Church members say they decided to do this so that the community could be more aware of what is going on around them including health issues.
"It was just a need that so many things going on that people are not aware of what's available for them in the community. Just little simple things like getting your blood pressure checked or things that they would need to help them more with their life," explains Cordelia Brown, a Mt. Zion Baptist Church member.
The fair started at ten in the morning and went until one in the afternoon. Church members say they hope to host the fair annually from here on out.
