Missing Woman Found in Creek

The discovery was made around 3 a.m. Thursday. Investigators say 96-year-old Kathleen Brown had been reported missing from her home Wednesday evening. She suffered from Alzheimer's.

Authorities say they believe Brown wandered away from her house in the Highland Park area.

Lauderdale County coroner, Clayton Cobler says she was discovered in Gallagher Creek, along 44th Avenue and Terry Street.

Ironically, Cobler says Brown was found dead in the same creek where local school children found a man dead last November.

Bless the dear lady's heart. Why wasn't someone, like family, taking care of her or keeping an eye on her?

I, too, believe this is Catherine Brown. She had two ladies that sat with her (around the clock I believe). Where were they? How could she get out of the house without either one of them noticing? This is so sad.

I'm afraid this is a lady who went to my Church, Catherine Brown. She lived near the creek. I haven't seen her in quite some time. I wondered what happened to her. She used to walk to St. Patricks' Church, College Park Shopping Center, all over Meridian. I admired her independence, but I was concerned about her being alone on the streets. She didn't see very well, but I didn't know she had Alzheimer's. This is very sad.

EVERYONE IN MERIDIAN IS VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS... IT IS VERY ODD THAT NOT 1 NOT 2 BUT 3 PEOPLE JUST HAPPENED TO HAVE MEDICAL CONDITIONS AND JUST HAPPENED TO WONDER AWAY AND DOWN TO THE SAME VERY SHALLOW CREEK AND DIE.... I REALLY HOPE THAT THEY DO A THOUROUGH INVESTIGATION AND AUTOSPYS TO MAKE SURE THERE IS NO FOUL PLAY.

Note to self: stay away from creeks in Meridian. Third body in a year pulled from one.

It's ironic that this is the third body found in Gallagher Creek in the past 12 months. Is there foul play afoot here. I think this needs to be looked into.

Could these cases be linked? It sounds like a very odd concidence that 2 bodies have been found in the same creek within a year of each other. Are the police overlooking something?
